GOSPEL COMMUNITIES

The gospel of Jesus Christ saves, redeems, and transforms people. When gospel-people do life together, gospel-communities are formed. And gospel-communities impact the city by engaging in the gospel-mission to make more disciples.

Gospel communities are made up of people who share their lives together—from homes and hobbies to meals and mowers. In these communities, the internal transformation of the gospel becomes visible as we practice hospitality, bear each other’s burdens, serve our neighbors, and grow in faith together.

As we believe and live out the gospel in community, we begin to plan and pray and partner together so that people in our neighborhoods and relational networks can hear and experience the gospel.

We are disciples, living on mission together to make more disciples.

To learn more about Gospel Communities or to join one, let us know more about yourself and we'll help you find a gospel community to live with on mission.

DISCIPLESHIP HUDDLES

Deep growth happens in huddles, groups of 2-4 people of the same gender who meet regularly to practice one-another care and discipleship through a few simple, intentional habits.

HEAR AND OBEY

Since God communicates himself to us and reveals Jesus to us through Scripture, Huddles are built around the word. Members read and study God’s word together in order to understand it, trust it, and live it.

REPENT AND BELIEVE

Believing Jesus is not merely the starting point, it is the way we live all of life. We battle remaining sin and we grow in holiness by helping each other apply the gospel to every area of life. Turning from unbelief and idolatry, Huddle members point each other toward renewed faith in Christ.

PLAN AND PRAY

Because we’re on mission together, we pray for the people God has brought into our lives and make intentional plans to engage with them for the sake of the gospel.

Huddles are limited to members of Emmaus Road Church. To find a Huddle, talk to your GC leaders.

CHILDREN’S MINISTRY

Emmaus Road Kids provides Gospel-centered care and supervision on Sunday mornings for children 15 months through pre-school.

GC Kids is our K–5 Christian education. We deliver age-appropriate Bible curriculum through our Gospel Communities, equipping parents to disciple kids in the context of Gospel community. The curriculum includes Christ-centered Bible readings, songs, memory verses, crafts, and more.

PARENT AND TEEN MINISTRY (G2)

G2 is our elder-led, parent and teen ministry for middle and high school students. Psalm 145:4 says, “One generation shall commend your works to another, and shall declare your mighty acts.” We host Quarterly conferences that primarily consist of biblical teaching from the elders, Discipleship Huddles that are facilitated by volunteers, and Biblical Manhood/Womanhood Retreats, that all aim to build teens into Christ, their parents, and the church.

BIBLICAL COUNSELING

Biblical counseling is personal and intensive discipleship rooted in the conviction that God’s Word sufficiently addresses all of our problem emotions and behaviors. We provide counseling and care for the people of Emmaus Road Church. We also assist those interested in pursuing certification with the Association of Certified Biblical Counselors, and we have a vision of starting a biblical counseling center that will serve the people of Sioux Falls.

THE BRIDGE COURSE

The question is not whether you will believe, but what you will believe. The Bridge Course is a chance to explore what true Christianity is all about. It’s a chance to interact, ask questions, and share your point of view without any questions.

The Bridge is a 10-week introduction to the Christian faith. Each week starts with a dinner followed by a brief talk covering questions like:

  • How Can a Good God Allow Suffering?

  • Can We Really Take the Bible Literally?

  • Why Doesn’t God Just Forgive Everyone?

Following the talk is a 30-minute discussion where you can ask questions or simply sit back and listen. All viewpoints are welcome, and no one will ever call on you. The Bridge is low-key, low-pressure, and a lot of fun. There’s no cost to participate and no commitment required.

SERVE ON A MINISTRY TEAM

We encourage members of Emmaus Road Church to express their eagerness for manifestations of the Spirit by striving to excel in building up the church (1 Cor. 14:12). We have three ministry teams that serve during our Sunday Worship Gatherings.

Host Team

Our Host Team exists to express the kind of hospital and generosity that Christ has shown to us. They do this by taking care of all of the set-up and tear-down, welcoming people at the doors, and more.

Music Team

Our Worship Team exists to lead our congregation in biblical expressions of joy in God through gospel-centered and Christ-exalting songs. The Worship Team comprises singers, musicians, and sound techs.

Emmaus Road Kids Team

The Emmaus Road Kids Team provides care and gospel-centered instruction for children between the ages of 15 months and 4 years.

As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace: ...whoever serves, as one who serves by the strength that God supplies—in order that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ.
